Unlike .@Uber @ToroRide can pick you up from LAX Airport

Spice Girl Mel B. has ventured into the app based transportation business, cofounding ToroRide, a black car service to rival Uber, perhaps.  Los Angeles is the only market they are in at the moment and appears to be a service for the elite, while Uber is available nationwide.

If you can’t beat them, join them

Ford Motors is interested in working with the likes of Uber and Lyft.  Ford Motors, along with other American made auto manufacturers, totally missed the mark on hybrids, EV’s and even carsharing, and are now looking to work with smartphone app based companies, presumably to sell more cars.

Daimler’s Car2go looks to pick up where Hertz left off

City of Los Angeles officials and LADOT have worked hard to bring carsharing to Angelenos for at least five years.  After beginning a successful pilot program with Zipcar, the city created a RFP, with the assistance of the Clinton Foundation, and searched for a permanent vendor.  Hertz was selected and then walked away.
